You are doing great work. Like you wrote, people have told you to apply the scripture that would require you to talk to these certain authors privately instead of talking and posting about them publicly. Yet, I wonder if they would quote the same scripture if these authors were the ones critiquing you and your writings. Does it go both ways? I don't know. This whole 'you can't discount a whole ministry just because some people were hurt' line is like someone inserting poison into a delicious chocolate cake and others saying they can't be criticized for poisoning people because it's surrounded with yummy chocolate. Toxic teachings padded in a few generic good-sounding quotes are still toxic.

I always find it odd that people weaponise this section of scripture designed to enable reconciliation, and use it instead in ways that hinder reconciliation.

I’m glad you included some alternative biblical responses here.

Duane Elmer wrote a book a number of years ago that talks about a variety of other biblical ways that we can use in seeking reconciliation. I wrote a blog post a couple years ago that basically summarizes Elmer‘s findings. If you’re interested, you can take a look here.
